Meet: Project Bandaloop

Okay, so there are very few things in life that leave me speechless... just ask my family. I did experience this speechlessness and a bit o' jaw dropping about a week ago. So, I was setting up for a huge event for work down at Library Square. It had been quite a long day in the heat. There are a lot of un-glamourous things that happen before a party and we were in the middle of it. Fortunately, to break up the un-glam the entertainment for the following night was doing their dress rehearsal. Never before had I ever seen anything so cool. Enter: Project Bandaloop. They are dancers. But not your typical dancers. Their stage, if you will, was the glass wall on the south side of the library. They repel off the building and then proceed blow your mind. It was so incredible. Here is a little taste...

Meandering to Moab...

Okay, so last weekend I headed off into southern Utah.... roadtrip!!! I loved road trips. No telling what adventures you will have. We (five girls and all fabulous by the way) started our trek about 4pm. For reference before I start into my story, typically a trip to Moab from Salt Lake is about 31/2 to 4 hours long. We literally just meandered our way down to Moab. How long did our trip take you ask? Well, we weren't thinking in terms of time or distance until we saw a sign that said "Moab 178 miles." What? You have got to be kidding me! We had already been in the car for three hours. How was that possible? Were we lost? Nope. Could it possibly have been the bakery stop for deliciousness? The horrible traffic? Or the fact that we just could not get everyone on the same bathroom break schedule? Don't you worry. Our time was well spent.... constant talking. Yep, we chatted that whole time! My time in Moab was spent hiking. Loved it! Delicate Arch is beautiful. Amazing. I did get a picture of the arch with no one by it... a very short window of time for that to happen on a Saturday afternoon. But I opted to put this picture in to give a better idea of the scale of the arch. Amazing. Next picture up, this cute little pile of rocks actually has a name, but it has escaped me. So, cute little pile of rocks is it. These were all along the way to designate the trail. Loved them! Oh last but not least....A shout out to President Obama. We went to pay our entrance fee to Arches National Park and the attendant told us to put our money away. National parks were free all weekend thanks to our President. Saved me $10. Wahoo!

Flower Snob... yes it is true!

Yes, I have to admit that I am truly a flower snob. Too true. I really love beautiful flowers, but almost equally as important.... I love all cool things! Okay, so you could call me a snob about many things. But what it really comes down to is that I appreciate good stuff. So, here is some good stuff. Who is this guy with the patch? Meet Dale Chihuly. No he is not a character on Seinfield. He happens to be a world renowned glass artist. Have you seen his stuff? Probably. If you have ever been in the lobby of Abravenal Hall in SLC you have seen his handiwork. I happened to luck out and see his incredible work among the cactuses in Phoenix, AZ. SO Amazing! The Irony of this incredible artist is that the very medium that has made him a name also lost him his eye through the windshield during an car accident. You need to look his stuff up. To the right is a picture that I took of a glass piece in the hot Arizona heat entitled "The Sun". Check his stuff out!      http://www.chihuly.com
